INTERNET SECURITY COMPLETE 2015 - 1 YEAR 5 DEVICE

What is Cloud Computing?
The word “cloud” doesn't just describe a clump of meteorological fluff in the sky anymore. Now it describes data, information and computers being connected wirelessly through a network. The cloud allows many computers to connect to the same documents, data, music or pictures, without taking up space on the computers’ hard drives. When a file is uploaded to the cloud, it is stored wirelessly in a virtual hard drive that can be accessed from anywhere, anytime, and by anyone with permission.
Webroot Intelligence Network Cloud Security Services
Webroot security solutions deliver the most advanced and up-to-date cloud security on the market. As the leader in Internet security, Webroot products ensure that you are protected around the clock with real-time security that never slows you down. Rather than storing threat definitions locally, which takes up valuable space on your computer, Webroot uses cloud technology and advanced behavioral recognition to determine in real time whether files are malicious. Unlike competitors’ solutions, Webroot scans are usually done in under two minutes, so they never affect your computer’s performance.
Revolutionizing the Internet Security Software Industry
Traditional security is slow, bulky, and doesn't keep you safe. Webroot created the next generation Internet security software to catch viruses and other online threats before they damage your computer or mobile devices. Webroot SecureAnywhere solutions are fast, easy, and won't let you down—anywhere, on any device.

SAMPLE CUSTOMER REVIEWS -

1) Webroot SecureAnywhere Internet Security Complete vs Norton 360 2013 Premier - I've used Norton anti-virus products for years and currently use Norton 360 2013 Premier. See, Norton 360 2013 Premier - 1 User / 3 PC. Norton 360 2013 Premier is, imho, the best of the Norton products. I also use Webroot SecureAnywhere Internet Security Complete, (see, Webroot SecureAnywhere Internet Security Complete - 5 Device), a relatively new product. Both products are excellent, but differ in several important respects. I have two Windows PCs, one running Windows XP Professional and the other running Windows 7. I have run both programs on both machines.

Footprint: Norton occupies about 123 mb of space on my drive, whereas Webroot occupies about .70 mb. Webroot's footprint is incredibly small; its entire program can fit on a floppy disk. However, Norton's 123 mb of space is insignificant on most newer machines, where hard drives often exceed one terabyte capacity. Webroot installs and scans significantly faster than Norton, and the ongoing updates happen quietly in the background, so there are no annoying pop-ups or slow-downs when an update occurs.

Zero-day Malware Protection: A new feature that Webroot has introduced this year is the Infrared threat detection engine, which assesses the potential risk of an unknown file based on its behavior and origin before allowing it to run. This is customized to the individual device based on an analysis of the OS, apps, and previous threats that have appeared on the machine.

Anti-Phishing: Webroot's real-time anti-phishing technology quickly analyzes websites on the fly and if they are determined to be malicious, Webroot will warn you before visiting them.

Response Time: My primary issue with Norton is the fact that it slows the response time of certain functions, such as booting up, shutting down, loading desktop icons, opening word doc files, opening pdf files, and opening websites. Webroot does not slow my machine's response time as much as Norton.

Password Management Feature: Both Norton and Webroot offer a password management feature. In this day and age, when we are burdened with so many usernames, passwords and credit card numbers, this feature, which stores usernames, passwords and credit card numbers and then fills in the information when opening your password-secured websites, is very convenient. Webroot tends to be more accurate with form-fill than other password managers.

Protection For Multiple Devices: Webroot offers protection for multiple devices using a single license, which allows you to manage PCs, Macs, and mobile devices through a single management console. In addition to the standard protection, Webroot also allows users to remotely lock and wipe data from smartphones and tablets, in addition to locating lost or stolen devices.

Community Support: Webroot has a community support forum that's integrated into its web console. This is a convenient feature you don't find with most products. Questions that are posed in the forum are answered by experienced technical folks and users who are knowledgeable, prompt and helpful. Norton, likewise, has a community support forum. The Webroot community forum seems to me to be more accessible. Webroot's moderators, administrators and techies provide a high level of information which can be accessed by all members of the community. Discussions in the Webroot community support forum are not confined to Webroot products, but are open to all kinds of software and hardware products.

Backup Feature: Both Webroot and Norton offer 25 gb of backup, with the option to purchase more. The backup is stored on Webroot's and Norton's servers and, as far as I know, is encrypted to ensure security and privacy. You need to be careful when backing up with Webroot, which lists certain files it invites you to check off in order to back them up, including doc, docx, xls, xlsx, jpg, jpeg, png, mpeg, avi and mp4 files. However, not listed are pdf, tiff, gif, ppt, pptx and possibly other files, so, unless you know about those unlisted files and manually add them to the list via a customization feature, those files will not be backed up. Webroot goes a step further than backing up - it keeps an Anywhere folder on all of your devices that a makes syncing between them easy, so you can access your files from all of your devices no matter where you are.

Tuneup Feature: Norton offers "PC Tuneup" and Webroot offers "System Optimizer." Both features can be automatically scheduled. Norton's "PC Tuneup" cleans up Windows temporary files, Internet Explorer temporary files, Internet Explorer history cleanup, startup manager, registry cleanup and disk optimization (a/k/a "disk defragmenter"). Webroot's "System Optimizer" cleans up Windows Desktop (recycle bin, recent document history, start menu click history, run history, search history and start menu order history), Windows System (clipboard contents, windows temporary folder, system temporary folder, windows update temporary folder, windows registry streams, default login user history, memory dump files, cd burning storage folder and flash cookies), Internet Explorer (address bar history, cookies, temporary internet files, url history, setup log, Microsoft download folder, media player bar history, autocomplete form information and cleanup index.dat), and specific applications (Mozilla, Adobe, Sun Java and Microsoft). Webroot's comprehensive list of cleanup items can be individually checked or unchecked.

Tech Support: Tech support for both products is good, but be prepared for a wait time with both, Webroot in particular. In my opinion, Webroot and Norton should employ a messaging system that allows the caller to leave a name and phone number to receive a call-back, rather than have the caller remain on the line for what can be an intolerably long wait time.

Norton uses live tech support with remote access, which means tech support will take over your machine and perform fixes, whereas Webroot favors a ticketing system, where you send in a written request and tech support will respond, with "fix" options that include a link that asks you to upload your computer logs to Webroot tech support for evaluation. These are two very different approaches to tech support. Webroot's ticketing system takes longer, because once you send a written request, you have to wait for a response from Webroot which includes a request to upload to Webroot's site your computer logs for analysis. Then, you have to wait for Webroot tech support to analyze your logs and send you a response. Sometimes, this takes more than a day. That kind of delay is unacceptable. While Webroot does have a live tech support/remote access feature, it is not available 24/7, only Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. MST, and it is my impression that Webroot's primary tech support feature is the ticketing system.

I prefer Norton's system of 24/7 live tech support/remote access because it not only is faster than Webroot's ticketing system, but I can watch while a tech representative works on the problem on my machine and learn from that experience, so that if it happens again, I can fix the problem myself. When Norton accesses my machine, I always ask the tech representative to walk me through the repair processes and take notes, and they always oblige. Webroot's live tech support/remote access is unavailable in the evenings and on weekends. These are the times I generally prefer to address technical issues with my machine, which means I am relegated to Webroot's ticketing system during those hours.

Webroot's response to the foregoing is as follows: Webroot's primary medium of support is a ticketing system, but once a customer's issue is assessed Webroot uses a variety of methods to resolve the issue. Webroot claims that it is very important to them to provide a high-quality experience for each customer.

The Webroot Community is also an excellent place to get answers to questions that do not require log analysis or deeper technical support, and with its global user-base, there are experts providing 24/7 assistance here.

Malware Recommendation: I recommend that users of Norton and Webroot incorporate anti-malware software in their suite of internet security programs. In my opinion, anti-virus software, alone, is not sufficient to protect your machine; you need good anti-malware protection as well. Arguably, Webroot has good anti-malware protection in addition to its excellent anti-virus protection, but the company does not promote its anti-malware feature. Anti-malware software such as Malwarebytes or Super Anti Spyware are good choices. Freeware is available for both of these products. Neither of these products conflicts in any way with Norton or Webroot.

Webroot does protect against malware, but is also designed to run alongside other products such as Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spyware. If you run both programs, Webroot is designed to stand aside and let those programs remove the threat first, but if the threat is missed, then Webroot will remove it. Webroot works effectively as a standalone anti-malware/anti-virus program, or it can run alongside other programs if users feel better having multiple layers of protection.

RATING: Despite the delay I've sometimes experienced with tech support, Webroot is an excellent, innovative product I feel comfortable endorsing with five stars. I have also endorsed Norton 360 2013 Premier with five stars.

2) Webroot is great! - Macafee security came with my first 2 computers and I had nothing but trouble with it. It didn't stop viruses at all and my computers were slow to work with. So I went out to the store and bought Webroot a few years ago and I will never use any other security on my computers again. It's constantly working but allowing me to work at the same time without slowing me down - unlike Norton. Any time I've had a question or concern about Webroot (which has only been twice in the last 7 years), their online help has quickly resolved the issue or found a solution to my question. I originally bought my Webroot at Future Shop or Best Buy but they no longer seem to carry it and the staff have never heard of it - in fact I've found that most people I talk to haven't heard of Webroot. But it's a great product, it handles all of your security issues and I was glad to find it available on Amazon where I will purchase it from now on. Delivery was also extremely fast. Try Webroot and you won't be disappointed.
