AVAST ! FREE ANTIVIRUS 2014 [ DOWNLOAD ]

avast! Free Antivirus 2014 - World's most-trusted antivirus, in over 40 languages

avast! Free Antivirus 2014 continues our legacy as the most-trusted security provider in the world. The entire avast! 2014 family includes a powerful intelligent antivirus that – with the help of our CommunityIQ – streams hundreds of daily micro-updates to your computer in real time, to catch new malware faster. Plus, you can fix current problems instantly, without uninstalling your current protection.

Guards Against Viruses and Spyware

Fast, lightweight, and efficient – time and again avast! Free Antivirus has been reviewed, certified, and awarded for its continual high performance record combined with a low impact on system resources.

Streams Threat Updates in Real-time

Every day, at least 250 virus-database micro-updates (the size of a simple text message, every 3-5 minutes) give you real-time protection against zero-day threats. And it even has high-tech options like Remote Assistance.

Improved Shield Protection

For version 2014, we redefined the number of shields to three – File Shield, Web Shield, and Mail Shield. The Web Shield contains Network Shield and Script Shield functionality, while the File Shield contains Instant Messaging and P2P Shield functionality. Reducing the number of shields makes these important functions easier to use and it streamlines the way all the shield layers communicate.

Cloud Scanning

We have improved cloud scanning features and crowdsourced analysis of suspicious items. This includes a new, optimized mechanism for collecting data from our sensors. Now files pass through several layers of detection techniques, where they are examined for suspicious code, behavior or instructions. The new algorithm uses artificial intelligence technology to learn what is suspicious from previous analyses and uses that knowledge for future detections.

DeepScreen

New DeepScreen technology allows avast! 2014 to make more intelligent decisions about new or unknown files. DeepScreen, which is the successor to AutoSandbox feature, has been upgraded with some new technologies such as dynamic binary translation and DynaGen. DynaGen dynamically generates malicious behavior signature updates based on artificial intelligence technology.

Hardened Mode (whitelisting)

Hardened mode basically only allows known and trusted apps to run, preventing non-whitelisted (aggressive mode) or low-rating (moderate mode) apps from ever running. It performs automatically, so you don’t have to worry.

Rescue Disk

avast! Free Antivirus 2014 allows you to create an image of your avast! installation and save it on a USB, CD or DVD. That way if anything nasty happens to your PC, you have the disk ready to run avast! to clean and restore your PC to normal.

SAMPLE CUSTOMER REVIEWS

1) AVAST - best anti-virus I've ever used including ones I've had to pay for. All my friends even the ones who do IT work on computers recommend this program. It has found all the viruses and spy ware on my computers regardless of Operating System. I also use it to protect my mobile devices.

2) Best antivirus for my needs (so far). - If I get a virus, that's when I change an antivirus package. I've had to do it before, several times. I have not had to do it yet with Avast, and I've been using it for more than 4 years. It has controls I can customize. I can turn it off when I want to, temporarily, or even permanently. It has audible notices, if you like, for things like updates, or warnings of something suspicious.

My one complaint is that being a free product, it does occasionally nag you. It will nag me when other software isn't up to date, or if it wants to offer me a paid upgrade of some kind. Or, to nag me to rate the software like I'm doing right now. I don't mind a polite nudge or two, which is generally the case. What I do take offense to, generally, is being told something that has *NOTHING* to do with security needs to be updated. If I don't want the latest flash update, that's my business. Also, when you nag me to talk about how much I like your software, I'm going to mention that I was nagged to do so. This has been at least my second such nag message this week.

It's really a small complaint, since I'm pretty sure I can probably turn them off. Point is, I shouldn't have to.

Otherwise, I highly recommend Avast. It keeps me secure. It's done so for several years. It's certainly a lot better than software I've used before. My first was Norton, which I dropped after getting a virus, and because of fraud. It would claim that flash games were malicious trojans. Even well-known and popular commercial software products would be labeled as specific viruses. I also found out they've committed fraud in scans to make people believe their software is more necessary than it is. I've used AVG, as well. That was a pretty good antivirus, but when I got infected, I cast it aside, and went with Avast. I've been using it since.
